Poncelin de Raucourt Fine Arts was founded by Diederick Poncelin de Raucourt, an independent art dealer specialising in Old Master drawings and paintings.

With more than fifteen years of experience, major discoveries and participation in international fairs such as TEFAF Maastricht, the gallery has developed a distinctly personal approach to the Old Master market, combining the traditions of connoisseurship with a more contemporary way of working with collectors.

We are equally comfortable with established collectors who have known this world for decades and with a new generation discovering it for the first time. An increasing number of our clients come from technology, finance and entrepreneurship, sometimes in their thirties or forties, with curiosity and strong instincts but little previous experience of the Old Master market.

Helping these collectors build their first serious collection has become an important part of what we do. There is no expectation to arrive with specialist knowledge: our role is to explain, advise and give clients the confidence to develop their own eye, while remaining attentive to quality, provenance, condition, attribution, historical importance and value.

For more experienced collectors and institutions, we offer the same close and discreet approach, whether sourcing a particular work, researching an attribution or advising on an acquisition.

Ultimately, the gallery aims to make the world of Old Masters rigorous without being intimidating, preserving everything that makes this field intellectually rich while making it accessible to collectors whose relationship with art may only just be beginning.
